Our Insurance Isn’t Leaving Louisiana

Protecting Louisiana Policyholders is Our Mission

Louisiana’s weather may be harsh and unpredictable at times, but the only thing more harsh and unpredictable is the chance that your homeowners insurance—that lifeline of assurance that you trusted to be there when you required it most—falls through.

Although this predicament may be rare, Louisiana’s unique geography and vulnerability make it more susceptible to destructive storms, recently leaving some insurers with more claims than they could manage.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, Louisiana’s insurance commissioner stated that he expected that six insurance carriers will leave Louisiana altogether.

Our Promise

While these insurance carriers are leaving Louisiana, Farm Bureau Insurance’s commitment to insuring Louisiana is stronger than ever, and our policyholders may rest assured that their home and property protection is secure. Our financial strength receives superior ratings from A.M. Best, the insurance industry’s credit rating agency.

Insuring Louisiana Since 1950

The creation of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, organized 100 years ago, was fueled by the recognition that farmers could improve their circumstances if they unified as a group. Later, the Federation began offering insurance products to help their members.

“The insurance company provided farmers with life and casualty insurance at competitive or lower prices. Starting in 1957 fire insurance was added.

In later years, Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation provided health and other specialty insurance needed by farmers that they had difficulty obtaining from other sources.”

Farm Bureau Insurance’s commitment has never wavered, and the proof is in the papers. Check out a few mentions in papers across Louisiana in the 1950s and 60s.
