Louisiana Roadside Assistance

Get Roadside Assistance With An Auto Policy From Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance

Since the beginning of automobile transportation, Americans have enjoyed a love affair with their cars. One thing about that relationship that has never changed is the certainty that every now and then, these favored vehicles are going to break down.

And you’re going to need some help.

Enter roadside assistance. The first such service in the U.S. was begun by the American Automobile Association. In 1915, a contingent of five motorcyclists from the Automobile Club of St. Louis founded the “First Aid Corps.”

The outreach was straightforward, the service was limited, and the terms were simple: members of the group would drive through the city’s streets on Sundays, search for marooned motorists, and perform minor engine and tire repairs for free.

Prepare Ahead for a Safe Trip

It’s good to know that today—especially around the holidays—Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance makes roadside assistance a snap, with just a quick call or a check-in on our MOBILE agent app.

That said, before you hit the road for that long drive to Grandma’s during this holiday season, it’s a good idea to follow a few preparation tips before you back out of the driveway:

  • Keep your cell phone fully charged
  • Make sure you have the proper tools—and the know-how—to fix a flat tire. (Keep a can of Fix-a-Flat or similar tire sealant in your car just in case.)
  • Keep an eye on your tire pressure, dashboard lights, and gauges
  • Leave room in the trunk for a gas can, jumper cables, flashlight, first aid kit, and a blanket, along with snacks and water
