State Fair of Louisiana Preview: Save the Dates!

The State Fair is Happening Twice in 2021

Enjoy the fun and food of the annual State Fair of Louisiana twice in 2021. Both fairs will include our great midway rides and games, along with the livestock show, exhibitors, 4-H competitions, exhibits, and live music and attractions.

“Double the Fun in 2021” is the message for the historic Louisiana State Fair in Shreveport this year.

For the first time ever, fans of state fair food and entertainment can do a double-take. When the noise and excitement of what is being called the “Spring Edition” fair during April 29-May 9 is over, they can look forward to experiencing the fun all over again during the “Fall Edition,” set for Oct. 28-Nov. 14!

After a rough ride with COVID-19 in 2020, this chance to indulge in all the funnel cakes, corn dogs, cotton candy, and terrifying rides that a visitor can handle is well-deserved—not to mention the live music, free shows, petting zoo, livestock shows, midway games, and more.

Don’t Miss These Fun Shows at the Fair!

In addition to the thrill of the state’s largest midway display of carnival rides, two very special and exhilarating live shows (below) will be sure to ignite the crowds.

  • Dallas the Fire Guy Extreme Entertainment
With shows every day of the fair, Dallas the Fire Guy offers up a “high energy, action packed, family oriented” show that combines comedy, danger, and juggling, all with audience participation. Among his inspirations to pursue extreme entertainment on his own were street performers he had seen during his weekends in New Orleans while he was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi as a young man.
  • Nick “The Escape Artist”
Visitors can watch Nick, an extreme entertainer since the age of nine, attempt to break out of straight jackets and chains as the clock is ticking. He also performs contortionist moves that routinely surprise his audiences. He also will present daily shows during the fair dates.

Top-Notch Fair Food

If you love the unique foods at the fair, you’re at the right place! The State Fair of Louisiana prides itself once again in offering the best independent culinary options, featuring some of the best fair food vendors of any in the country—and that includes everything from traditional “fair foods” to brand-new dishes you’ve never tried!

Make History: Come Once, Come Twice

Become part of Louisiana’s history and follow the crowds to this year’s one-and-only double State Fair of Louisiana experience in 2021.

According to the Shreveport Times, this is the first time in the 114-year history of Louisiana’s state fair that two fairs have been presented in the same year. History will record that the spring fair will be the 114th fair, and the fall fair will be known as the 115th event.

For the record, The Times reports that this fair has been canceled only once, and (yes) that was during the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. (Although a cancellation was also considered during World War II, the state fair did run as planned.)

No matter the history, today’s current fair officials are holding strong to their commitment to produce the State Fair of Louisiana with safety as its top priority for fair goers, vendors, sponsors, and exhibitors.

Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance shares a proud legacy with our state’s farmers and rural communities, many of whom participate in the fair through livestock shows, homemade food and other competitions, 4-H projects, and other activities.
